We seem to forget the last Grateful Dead show ever on the planet was 28 years ago TODAY July 9, 1995 at our own Soldier Field here in Chicago. Jerry Garcia was to pass one month later on Aug 9th and that ended the run of the original band. Since then several incarnations of the band with original surviving members have toured the States and just this year the most recent ensemble is on their last tour. They may be THE DEAD but for now they are still alive.

The baby boomer generation seems to think our musical icons we grew up with will go on doing live concerts forever or least until they inevitably pass. On the heels of the Elton John farewell concert in Stockholm last night to this week’s announcement of the Eagles “The Long Goodbye” the stark reality is our musical icons are CHOOSING to fade away. After reading this robust review, the startling insinuation is this was Springsteen’s last show ever in London UK?
